In the heart of New Hampshire’s White Mountains, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and Acadia Mountain Guides have come together to create a unique learning opportunity for those with a passion for mountaineering, wilderness medicine, and emergency response.
Advanced Mountain Medicine
The Advanced Mountain Medicine Diploma program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively assess, diagnose, and treat injuries or illnesses that occur in mountainous and remote environments. The collaboration between DHMC and Acadia Mountain Guides offers students a comprehensive educational experience, combining the expertise of medical professionals with that of experienced mountain guides.
Expert Instructors
The program is taught by a team of experienced medical professionals from Dartmouth-Hitchcock and certified mountain guides from Acadia Mountain Guides. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that students receive a well-rounded education, with a strong emphasis on practical applications of both medical knowledge and mountain skills.
Hands-On Learning Experience
The Advanced Mountain Medicine Diploma program offers students an immersive learning experience. Students participate in both classroom instruction and field exercises, gaining a deep understanding of the principles of wilderness medicine and mountain rescue techniques.
